A message from Kiko TanePosted 5th January 2026Main stage at midnight is the slot every DJ wants and the one with the least room for error. The countdown had to land on the second, the confetti cannons were on my cue, and the harbour fireworks would start whether I was ready or not.
I spent the week before building the last twenty minutes around one track that peaks at exactly 11:59:50, and rehearsed it against the official clock with the production team twice on the day. When the count hit zero the cannons went, the bridge lit up and three thousand people were singing the chorus back at me.
After midnight I eased it down with an hour of feel good house, so the crowd could find their friends and the families could head off happy.
