A message from Kiko TanePosted 17th February 2026Hiro asked for a soundtrack that felt like Tokyo after midnight, so I spent weeks digging through my Japanese city pop and funk records before the night.
The room is small and full of wood and paper, which makes it sound beautiful but means you have to play with care. I started with city pop on vinyl while people ate, moved into disco as the tables cleared, and finished with warm house once the whole bar was dancing between the lanterns.
It sold out two weeks ahead and the bar did its best night of the year. I have played there once a month ever since.
