A message from Kiko TanePosted 30th January 2026Maya sent me a playlist called "everything I loved at 16" and asked me to make it work for a room of thirty year olds. Challenge accepted.
I kept it warm and easy for the first hour while people arrived and the sun went down, then brought in the throwbacks right after the speeches. The first few bars of one particular 2003 R&B hit got the loudest cheer of the night. Once everyone was properly dancing I moved into disco and house, so it felt like a grown up party again.
It was a tight rooftop with neighbours on three sides, so I used a compact rig with a small sub and kept the bass under control. Nobody missed it.
